72, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on May 21st. Born in Pawtucket, she was a daughter of the late Glenn and Helen (McCann) Martin. She was a graduate of Pawtucket West High School and attended Our Lady of Fatima Hospital Nursing School and the Community College of Rhode Island. She was a long time resident of North Smithfield and Burrillville Rhode Island. Joan worked for many years as an office manager. She then became an independent beauty consultant for Mary Kay, which she enjoyed immensely. She taught ceramic classes for several years. Also, she enjoyed working with stained glass, gardening, and spending time with her grandchildren.

Joan was predeceased by her first husband and childhood sweetheart William L. Bourgault and leaves behind their only child, Lori Bourgault and her partner James Godin of Dayville, CT. She also leaves 5 siblings, Marjerie J. Martin of Smithfield, RI, Glenn Martin Jr. of Antrin, NH, Robert F. Martin of Las Vegas, NV, Charles G. Martin and his wife Kim of Bellingham, MA and Beth M. Miller and her husband Bob of Slatersville, RI. Joan was also predeceased by her sister, Michelle Cournoyer of Woonsocket, RI. She also leaves 3 grandchildren, Ryan, Jenna, Kate; and one great grandchild, Ella.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff of Bayberry Commons and Continuum Hospice for the care, compassion and love given to Joan while under their care.

Relatives and friends are invited to visitation on Tuesday, May 29th from 5 - 7pm at the Keefe Funeral Home, Five Higginson Ave., Lincoln, followed by a memorial service at 7pm. Burial will be private at a later date. Please feel free to wear color in her memory, especially red and purple. In Lieu of flowers donations to Continuum Care Hospice of RI, 1350 Division Rd.
